All Church Conferences

At the Town Hall meeting last Tuesday, the recommended name from the Merger Committee was announced: Community of Hope, A United Methodist Congregation. Also, both Mission and Vision statements were announced. Both Riverside and College Avenue will need to hold All Church Conferences to approve the location, name, mission & vision statements. The All Church Conferences will be on Sunday, Aug. 22, immediately after each worship service. Members must vote at their home church location. Only members present are allowed to vote per the Book of Discipline.

What You Need to Know

Active members that are present will vote on these recommendations made by the Merger Committee. Members of both Riverside and College Avenue can vote at either worship service.

  1. The recommended location of the newly formed church is the College Avenue Building at 1968 W. Main Street, Muncie.
  2. The recommended name of the newly formed church shall be “Community of Hope, A United Methodist Congregation.”
  3. The recommended Mission Statement is as follows: “The mission of Community of Hope, a United Methodist Congregation, is to make followers of Jesus Christ through the transforming works of peacemaking and justice that the world may experience God’s hope and grace in the power of the Holy Spirit.”
  4. The recommended Vision Statement is as follows: “Community of Hope, a United Methodist Congregation, strives to become an inclusive faith community, where every person’s spiritual journey is affirmed. Aided by the Holy Spirit, hope aim to strengthen followers of Jesus Christ through our common journey together until God’s New Creation is brought to completion.”
