The Next Chapter
After a process of prayer, consultation and discernment, the Cabinet recommended and Bishop Trimble appointed, Rev. Keith Turner to be the pastor of the 2-point charge we recently agreed to form with Riverside United Methodist Church effective July 1, 2021.
On April 25, the Governing Board met with Rev. Turner along with Conference Superintendent Russ Abel and the Governing body of Riverside. We asked many questions and spent time getting to know him. We feel given his dynamic preaching and effective leadership, he is an excellent choice to guide College Avenue through our next chapter.
When we agreed to form a 2-point charge just a few weeks ago, it was important to the board that both pastors be appointed in a position that honors his or her gifts, study and passions.
To that end, I am pleased to announce that Bishop Trimble has appointed Pastor Karen Bray to a new appointment beginning July 1, 2021, also. She has been appointed to a dual ministry as Pastor of Brookston United Methodist Church and to the Staff of the Northwest District as Pastoral Renewal Specialist. In this role she will provide care and renewal to pastors, as well as developing resources for soul-renewing connections and experiences for the pastors of the Northwest District.
We look forward to celebrating Pastor Karen’s service with us in June and welcoming Pastor Keith in July.
