How to Help Our Community This Advent

There are several fundraiser and giving opportunities that can help right here in Muncie and in Indiana.

Thanksgiving Offering

Our Thanksgiving Offering on Nov. 29 will support the six Special Sundays: Human Relations Day, One Great Hour of Sharing, Native American Ministries, Peace with Justice, World Communion Sunday, and United Methodist Student Day. Please prayerfully consider what you should contribute to these worthy causes. Please place it in the offering plate in a Thanksgiving Offering envelope, or designate it as Thanksgiving Offering with your regular offering.

UMW Final Fundraiser of 2020

We, unfortunately, will not be having our Bread Sunday Fundraiser. Instead, we are asking for monetary donations to support the Mission of UMW. This has been a difficult year for all of us, especially for those in need. Donations received will be sent to missions such as the Lucille Raines Residence, where we are able to help those who need it most. Donations can be made out directly to UMW or through the church. Please make sure to put UMW in the memo line of your donation. If you donate online, please choose “Special Offering” and add “UMW” to the box on the right. Thank you, stay safe, and stay healthy! Donations should be received by Dec. 1.

Donations Instead of Bell Ringing for the Salvation Army

After much prayer and consideration Men’s Fellowship will forego the annual tradition of ringing bells for the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle drive. Instead, please send or drop off a donation to our office (cash, check, or on-line) to support the annual drive. The Salvation Army’s need will not be diminished this season and still needs our support. By collecting the donations at the office we can make a one-time offering in the name of College Avenue Men’s Fellowship and keep our tradition active. While hesitant to ask for another donation, this is better than unnecessarily exposing our volunteers in this uncertain times.

Please make checks out to “Salvation Army Red Kettle Drive”. Donations are due at the church by December 17, 2020 for delivery before Christmas.

In the past this has been a wonderful activity (except when icicles where hanging from John Ledbetter’s flute) that we hope to resume this in the future. Thanks so much for your support of College Avenue Men’s Fellowship!

Advent Giving Calendar

Share the gift of Advent by giving needed items to some of our Faith Promise Ministries! This year during Advent, will be collecting needed items to donate to A Better Way, Christian Ministries, and Covenant Partners. Print the calendar and place it where you can refer back to it each day. Take a box or bag and decorate it, wrap it, or make it fun in some way. Fill it each day with the items listed. Then, bring the filled box/bag to College Avenue by January 6, 2021 for delivery.

A Better Way Book/Pillow Project

As part of our Faith Promise Sunday, February 7, 2021, the Missions Team and United Methodist Women would like to present A Better Way with 60 travel/book pillows for the children who use their services. The pillow covers are easy to make and require only a yard of fabric. The fabric can be cotton, canvas, flannel, or other suitable fabric. Each travel/book pillow has a pocket for a children’s or young adult book. Pillow forms will be purchased by the Missions Team. The instructions are found here or can be picked up from the Missions mailbox outside the church office. Finished pillow covers and books may be placed in the marked bin in the hallway outside the church office by January 24, 2021. If you would like to donate funds toward the purchase of books or fabric, please send a check to the church office with ‘Missions’ in the memo line.
