We are in an important season of pastoral transition. In January we announced that Bishop Trimble had appointed Pastor Lisa to First United Methodist Church in Bloomington, IN, effective July 1. A few weeks later, we discovered Bishop Trimble had appointed the Rev. Karen Bray to be our new pastor.
Right now, the Governing Board and the staff are working with both Pastors Lisa and Karen to make the hand-off as smooth as possible. Like runners in a relay, we may slow down a bit as the baton gets passed, but we hope to continue to run the race that Jesus has put before us. We will place priority on worship, mission and service, inter-generational ministry, plans about the facility, and discussion of ministry partnerships with other congregations.
Pastoral transitions can bring about a variety of emotions such as grief, excitement, and fear. We’re invited to be people of prayer who are authentic about our feelings and support each other as we gather, grow, and go to share the love of Christ.
We hope you will join us at 10 a.m. on Sunday, June 9 in Wesley Hall as we say good-bye to Pastor Lisa and her family. We also hope you will stay tuned for opportunities to offer a warm welcome to Pastor Karen this summer.
