Summers with Superheroes and Seuss

I intentionally look for summer worship themes that are lighter and fun, just as the season suggests. This year, I’m excited to be spending June with some of the “Superheroes of Scripture” who will also appear during Vacation Bible School (June 26 to 30). We’ll be looking in particular at David, Esther, Jesus, and Peter and what we can learn from their lives about having heart, courage, wisdom, and hope. We’ll welcome new members and witness baptisms, too. Be listening in worship for superhero theme songs tied into the music.

In July, we’ll be delving into “The Gospel According to Dr. Seuss.” Many of the themes in his books echo important concepts from Scripture – our care for creation (The Lorax), our importance to God (Horton Hears a Who), our generosity (How the Grinch Stole Christmas), and our ability to conquer our fears (What Was I Scared Of?). We’ll be looking at excerpts from movies and books that will help us to grow and have fun along the way. In August, we’ll be “Leaving Home” as we head back to school and welcome college students. You won’t want to miss these meaningful moments in worship!
